Doz was born in Vienna to an Opera singer and a Concert Pianist and moved to London at age 12. She performed her first gig the same year. She started on the professional circuit at 17 performing her own material as a solo artist with acoustic guitar.

Her first band, the Violet Hour, was signed to Sony in 1991, recorded an album and toured extensively for 3 years after which the band split up.

The next few years saw a variety of projects including various session work, an original all-female acoustic band, a rock band called Holy Cow funded by Polygram and Sony Music; a deal with London Records for piano house singles including club hit "JJ Tribute", and a deal with Virgin Records for dance singles inc. club hit "Easy To Love".
